Top 5 Posts of 2016

Believe it or not, there’s less than two weeks left in 2016.  Where has the past year gone?!?  I know that they say that time goes by more quickly as you get older, and that it goes even faster once you have kids.  Boy is that true!  It feels like this past year has just zipped right by me!

I loved being able to share my training, and more importantly, my postpartum fitness journey, here on the blog over the course of this past year.  My most popular posts from this past year were:

1.  Rock ‘n’ Roll DC Half Marathon Recap

post race rnrdc

Rock ‘n’ Roll DC marked my return to racing after having little man.  Since I used this race as a training run for ZOOMA Annapolis, I ran the first eight miles and then walked the rest of the race.  I loved every minute of this race and felt so accomplished when I crossed the finish line at two and a half months postpartum.

2.  My First Marathon Will Be…

I am so excited that my big goal for 2017 will be to train for and run my first marathon.  I cannot wait to run the streets of Chicago in October, and to represent Team RMHC on race day.

3.  Why Now Isn’t the Time for a Marathon

Ironically, my third most popular post of the year was my self reflection on why back in the Spring I wasn’t ready to commit to a marathon.  My how things have changed in just a few short months!  (You can read about why I feel more ready to tackle the challenge of a marathon here.)

4.  Wine and Dine, Take 2

After deferring our Wine and Dine Half Marathon registration in 2015, I was so excited to register for the 2016 race.  And I was even more excited when Preston agreed to upgrade my registration from the half marathon to the two race challenge as my birthday present.

5.  Tips for a Healthy Weight Gain During Pregnancy

After maintaining a healthy and fit pregnancy, I offered readers insight into how I managed to only gain 23 pounds while pregnant.  Never once was my OB worried about my weight, and was very supportive of me remaining active throughout my pregnancy.

  1. I would expect your new mom/running posts to be super popular! I’m always surprised which posts are the most popular, tho. Pretty sure my new one, on my diagnosis, is going to end up in the top 5. It’s funny how that works. Race recaps are always super popular too.

  2. Love that your two marathon posts were hits for different reasons. I love reading about your running and being a mom, as I can relate. All the best in 2017!

  3. EatLovePlank says:

Those looked like some great races. 2016 was a busy year!

  4. SuzLyfe says:

I think the variety (and irony!) of your top 5 posts speaks to the fact that you did this year right–without one, you wouldn’t have had the other (at least, not for positive reasons!). You made the right choices!

  5. I can’t believe there are only two weeks left.

I loved your Wine & Dine posts. They were filled with so much fun and excitement!

Can’t wait to see what you have coming up in 2017!

  6. Fun list! This has me wondering which were my most popular, lol.

  7. Love that your the marathon I’m running post is followed by the one about why its not the time now . . . so much can change just within the span of a year! Cheers to 2016 and a great start to 2017

  8. Love the irony on #2 and #3. That’s the great thing about life – we are always changing and it’s so fun!
