Friday Five – Potpourri v. 16

Happy 2nd Day of Fall, everybody!  Although I’m sad to see my favorite season (summer) officially come to an end, I’m excited about all of the fun activities and events that we have on our calendar for this fall.  Between now and the middle of November we have very few “open” weekends when we don’t have anything already on our calendar.  Its going to be a super busy, but fun, fall.

There’s been a lot of excitement at our house this week, and we have some fun activities planned for the weekend, and I wanted to share some of the excitement with everybody.

1.  Little man is 9 months old today!  9 months, how is that even possible?!?  My baby is growing up so quickly!  We have his 9 month doctor’s appointment this afternoon and I’m excited to find out his current stats (weight, height, etc).

2.  For the second time ever, Preston and I hired a cleaning service to deep clean our house (we used the service for the first time back in June).  When I came home Wednesday afternoon they were finishing up, and cleaned our house from top to bottom.  I felt such a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders to have the house sparkly clean, and its such a relief to know that I can spend my time and energy focused on things other than cleaning the house.  Now about all the laundry that has piled up…

3.  Having run Rock ‘n’ Roll Philly on Sunday (which I hope to recap for all of you early next week), my attention has now turned to my next race weekend, Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend at the beginning of November.  I’ve started to work on costume ideas, and can’t wait to have some of my visions come to life.  One of my costumes may or not be inspired by m favorite Disney princess, Belle.

4.  Tomorrow we’ll be headed to an annual home show, which will feature DC area vendors for every home remodel project you can imagine.  Preston and I are starting to contemplate some remodeling that we’d like to do around the house and hope to get some ideas and inspiration at tomorrow’s show.  We’re far from being ready to start any projects, but are excited about exploring possible ideas.

5.  On Sunday we’ll be headed to my department’s annual BBQ.  Every fall my school’s Social Studies teachers and families gather for a potluck BBQ at a coworker’s house.  Its always fun to see everybody outside of work, and see all of the kids play together.  Last year there were over 40 people at the BBQ, and I think this year there will be even more people.  It should be a lot of fun!

QOTD: What are you looking forward to this weekend?

As always, thank you to the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) for hosting the weekly Friday Five Link Up.  Be sure to check out their posts as well!

  1. Wow, your little man is growing so fast. Every weekend since school has started we have been so busy with things. I have nothing planned this weekend so I am hoping to just relax if that is possible! Maybe I’ll get some fall decorations out, but who wants to think of that when it’s still 88 degrees…lol

  2. I can’t believe he is 9 months old already! The cleaning service is such a big help you just can’t possibly have time to do all of that with being back to work, the baby and the dog. Have a great weekend

  3. Does he seriously smile ALL of the time?!? 🙂

  4. Busy weekend on tap for you! I have lots of work travel over the next two months. Have fun at the home show & BBQ!

  5. I have a woman who cleans my house every other week. I gave up on trying to do it all. It’s well worth the $$ to have that time to do other things!

  6. Wow – 9 months, time flies!! He’s precious. I just deep cleaned my bedroom but am seriously contemplating having a service come in for the rest of the house. It’s so daunting!

  7. Lesley says:

Since last weekend was so busy, I don’t have anything planned yet for this weekend. I’ve been reading a book during lunch at work, and I’m gong to take it home to hopefully finish this weekend.

  8. Jennifer says:

Aww 9 months already?! I can’t wait to see your picture.

  9. Ana says:

Aww!! so cute! I hope you already started planning the birthday party!

Can’t wait to see what costume you come up with!

  10. Alyse says:

    9 months!! He’s so cute I can’t stand it. Congrats, mama! 🙂

  11. Sana Waheed says:

I love how pumped everyone is about fall. It’s totally getting me into the spirit!! http://www.supersana.com

  12. Congrats on getting a cleaning service! I had a couple of gals that used to come every two weeks (several years ago, when I was going through a terrible time with all of my allergies and my allergist advised me to stay away from doing any of that). But, after 5+ years of allergy shots (and over 2 years of being “shot-free”), I’m ready to take the plunge again. You’re little guy is such a charmer 😉

  13. mkadens1 says:

Wow! 9 months! Time certainly flies. Having a cleaning service is one of the best decisions I ever made.

  14. J. Roose says:

They do grow up so fast don’t they? I wish in my time technology was as developed as now so I could capture more of these precious moments. Time flies, but your baby will soon grow up to be a fine young man, I’m sure!

  15. MCM Mama says:

We hired our cleaning service when Jones was about 6 months old. 14 years later, we still use them and it’s one of the non-negotiable things in the budget. It’s so nice to have the whole house clean at once.

  16. Coco says:

I’ve been wanting to re-do my kitchen for over a year now. I need to make some calls and get some estimates …

  17. He is so adorable! Mine is coming up on 6 months. Wow. Time flies.
