Disclaimer: As a Rock ‘n’ Blogger I received a complimentary registration for the virtual race series. As always, all opinions are my own.
Have you heard the latest news from the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series? They recently introduced a new Virtual Race series, which allows runners to run 5ks from anywhere in the world and earn up to four medals. The Virtual Race Series includes three runs, each with its own medal. And just like if you run multiple Rock ‘n’ Roll races in a calendar year, if you run all three virtual races you’ll earn the virtual race series’ version of a “heavy medal” – the Making a Band medal! Each race is $29.99, or the series is $99.
- Guitar Solo – June 26th-July 20th
- Drum Solo – July 21st-August 14th
- Lead Singer – August 15th-September 5th
Only the Guitar Solo medal has been revealed so far. I’d say its in line with the size and quality of other Rock ‘n’ Roll race medals.

Unlike other virtual races that I’ve participated in, after you complete each run of this series, if you tag your participation on social media with the hashtag #RnRVIRTUALRUN you’ll be entered for your chance to win prizes. First prize is a complimentary race entry, with VIP access, to any remaining 2016 Rock ‘n’ Roll series race (excluding Las Vegas).
If virtual runs aren’t your thing but you’re still looking to register for a Rock ‘n’ Roll race this year, be sure to use discount code DANCINGTORUNNING to save $15 on your race registration (excluding Brooklyn and San Antonio).
QOTD: What is your favorite virtual race perk?
I’ve only done one virtual race and loved getting my stuff in the mail. Ideally, I’d want to run with a group of friends and do the virtual race together.
That would be a lot of fun.
About time they did a virtual race! I love the idea!
Me too!
I did not know that they did virtual races as well! Those are always fun for extra motivation
Virtual races really are a great source of motivation.
I just did a virtual series like this for Disney. They’re so fun! Love the medals 🙂
Earning some extra bling is always a great motivator.
I think it’s super cool that Rock n Roll has introduced virtual races, and their medals are always super neat.
Yes they are.
I’m not surprised they jumped on the virtual race bandwagon (pun intended!)! Fun medals.
Love the pun. 🙂
I like this, I’m going to look into it. I love the flexibility of virtual races.
So do I.
That’s pretty cool for those who like virtual races!
Agreed.
Such a cute medal!
I think so too.
I love that races are offering these options now! The prizes for this virtual series are great, too!
I love that they incorporated prizes as extra incentive and motivation.
I’m still not sure I get the virtual race craze – is it the bling? Maybe if I didn’t have so many great local races to pick from – including the live RNR races!
They’re a great option for those who don’t live in an area with a lot of actual races to run.
Since I’m not a runner I’d love just the swag.
Swag is always enticing, isn’t it?
I haven’t done a (paid) virtual run in a long time. I think they are a great way not only for new runners to get something for their efforts, but also for established runners to gauge their progress if they’re not able to participate is “real” races. The R’nR hardware is always awesome!!
I 100% agree with you.
I was so impressed when I saw the medal, definitely the nicest I’ve seen for a virtual race. I’m looking forward to joining in!
The nicest virtual medal that I’ve seen too.
Very cool! I love RNR and there are not many in my current area so a virtual series is pretty awesome!
RnR is a great race series.
I love virtual runs- this sounds fun!
Agreed. I can’t wait to participate!
