On Monday, before I get ready to barbecue with friends, I’ll be headed out to run my first 10k of the year, the Ringing in Hope: Salute to Our Troops 10k. I’m excited to run a race that I’ve never run before, as well as to push myself and see what I’m able to do after successfully increasing my running speed throughout this half marathon training cycle.
My main reason for signing up for this race is to push myself to not only PR, but to also have as fast of a time as possible to submit to runDisney as proof of time for November’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon. This will likely be the only 10k that I run prior to the mid-August deadline for proof of time. The race distance also works well as my last long run prior to next Saturday’s half marathon.
My three goals for Monday are:
Goal A – Finish the race in under 1:01:06 (9:50 pace)
Goal B – Finish the race in under 1:01:37 (9:55 pace)
Goal C – Finish the race in under 1:02:08 (10:00 pace)
I set my current 10k PR last April, when I ran the Manassas Runway 10k in 1:01:56 (9:59 pace). Both My A and B goals would result in a new 10k PR for me. I can’t wait to see what happens on Monday and to push myself hard one last time before next weekend’s half marathon.
QOTD: What are your Memorial Day plans?
Good luck on Monday! I’m running a 10k on Sunday. Kind of last minute ( you know me). No goals, but I’d love an AG finish.
Hope it went well, Wendy!
good luck, girl, you can do it! i’m hoping to get in some pool time – this weather better hold off!
Hope the weather has been cooperating for you this weekend.
You can do it!!! Get it, girl!
Thanks Nicole!
I know you’re going to do great! Love the cause behind this 10K! Best of luck, Kathryn!!
I love the cause too.
Good luck, you’ll be great!
Thanks!
Good luck! I want to go see Alice Through the Looking Glass on Monday to keep the day low key. I like how I can spread things out with a 3-day weekend.
I like being able to spread chores and errands out over 3 days as well.
Good luck with your race! I will be at the beach with my toes in the sand and a drink in my hand!
Sounds glorious!
Good luck!
Thanks Anna!
I don’t doubt you’ll hit your A goal!
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Carmy!
I’ll be busy working my garden this weekend. Neighbor’s having a BBQ Sunday.
Hope you had a good time at the BBQ today.
Good luck!! 10K’s are great for testing your speed 😉
Most definitely!
Good luck Kathryn! You’ve been working so hard I could see you going sub 60 at this 10K. Fingers crossed!
My 10K PR is so old now that I won’t have one to submit for wine n dine (unless I run one this summer).
Eek, I hope you can find one to run!
I did that race course a few times for their New Year’s eve race. Surprisingly hilly. Good luck and have fun
Yea, I’m not expecting a flat course of any sort. I’ve been doing a lot of long runs on hilly routes to help prepare for Annapolis so I’m interested to see what I’m able to do tomorrow morning.
