Yesterday an exciting e-mail popped up in my inbox:
For the second year in a row, I’ve been selected to be an ambassador for the Fit Foodie 5k! I absolutely love the concept behind this race series, and am honored to have been chosen two years in a row to represent this race. (Check out last year’s recap here.) I’ll be running at this year’s race in Fairfax, VA on Saturday, May 21st.

Before the start of last year’s race
Under the theme of “Calories Burned, Calories Earned,” participants will have the opportunity to participate in the ultimate celebration of food, fitness, and fun. There are also some exciting new additions to this year’s race, including:
- The opportunity to mix and mingle with elite athletes “Boston Bill” Rogers, four-time Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon Champion, and Caroline Rotich, winner of the 2015 Boston Marathon
- An all- new John Hancock Vitality Village post-race celebration featuring fitness demonstrations from acclaimed talent, cooking demonstrations, and more
- The option to register for the Fit Foodie Premium Package, which includes an official Fit Foodie participation tank, a $5 tax-deductible donation to the Fit Foodie Official Charity, and more

During last year’s race weekend
Once you cross the finish line of the race, you’ll be invited into the post-race village celebration, which will include food samples, cooking demonstrations, and mini-fitness classes. Registration also includes two post race celebration drinks (for those age 21 and up).
Registration prices for this year’s Fairfax event are very reasonable:

QOTD: Who will be joining me for the Fit Foodie 5k?
So torn on this one now that they’ve changed the date. It’s the same day as the Semper Fi 5k. I loved the whole fit foodie experience but didn’t actually enjoy the race part that much. And I love the Semper Fi race experience. I guess we’re luck to live in an area with so many good things to choose from!
Having too many races to choose from is definitely a good problem. I hope I’ll see you at Fit Foodie. 😉
Congrats! I wish I lived near you so I could join in on the fun! I’ll have to live vicariously through my blogging friends!
We’ll make sure to take lots of pics to show you. 🙂
I’ll be running it this year – my mom her friend wanted to do it! I saw Colleens code this morning (just saw your post), but I’ll send yours to my mom’s friend 🙂
Yay, I’m so excited that I’ll get to see you there!
Can’t seem to find this in the FAQ – can I Metro there? If I can Metro there, I may be in…
The Dunn Loring metro station is about a mile away from the Mosaic District. I would assume that there’s a bus that goes between the metro station and the shopping district along Gallows Road.
That sounds like a really neat race. I live in Alabama so there is no way for me to participate. I’ll definitely be looking for race and food updates. 🙂
Bummer that there isn’t a race location near you. Its really a great concept for a race series.
Congrats! I need to tell my sister about this event, we may need to make a weekend trip! it looks like a ton of fun!
We’d love to have you join us, Janelle.
How fun! I always got jealous when Salt would do this race 🙂 Looking forward to seeing pics!
Any event with Salt would make anybody jealous, right? 😉
ME TOOOOOOOOOOO! ❤ I'll see you down there!!
Yay!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like such a fun race, but my summer beginning in May is too chock full of travel and weddings. Someday!
You should definitely put it on your bucket list. Its a fun event.
Congratulations Kathryn. I know you loved this race last year and did a great job promoting it, so it was probably an easy decision for them to choose you again. I wish I lived closer to DC because it sounds like fun.
Thanks Pam. I wish you lived closer to here too.
That sounds like a fun race to participate in. I haven’t seen anything like it advertised here in Indy.
Hopefully they’ll start hosting more races in more locations across the country.
I love the food after this race. I’m sad I can’t join you guys this year. Have fun!
The food is so delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Sounds like a lot of fun! Congrats on being chosen again this year. Running + food = a great time!
Most certainly!
Wish I could be there! Sounds like a fun 5k!!
It really is!
Yay! I’m so excited for you!! I was so bummed when I couldn’t participate last year as an ambassador, but I had so much fun the year before that that I knew I had to apply again! See you there!
Looking forward to it! 🙂
