Friday Five – Five Things I’m Currently Loving

This week’s Friday Five theme with the DC Trifecta is “Five Things I Love.”  I’ve shared numerous posts about things that I love, including what I love about runningwhat I love about running with my husband, and five brands that I love.  So I thought this week that I’d share five things that I’m currently loving, at 31 weeks pregnant.

1.  My new Mizuno Wave Inspire 12s

mizuno review

I’m loving the updated Wave Inspire model from Mizuno.  They are supportive, yet lightweight, and have the perfect amount of support that my pregnant feet need while I’m out running.

2.  My body pillow

After a number of restless nights, I started sleeping with a body pillow about two weeks ago.  What a difference the pillow has made in terms of helping me to get comfortable in bed, and to be able to sleep for longer stretches.  I’m now questioning why I didn’t start using the pillow sooner, especially since I’m borrowing it from a friend and it sat in our basement unused for a couple of months.

3.  Tights

Somehow wearing tights makes me feel less pregnant, or at least not as big.  I only started wearing tights to work last week, and the few days that I have worn them I’ve felt like an entirely new person.

4.  The summer like weather

The last two days the highs have soared into the 70s.  The high yesterday afternoon was a whopping 78 degrees!  While my feet haven’t liked the weather (they’ve been swollen and I’ve had to come home from work, put compression socks on, and put my feet up instead of going for a run), I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the summer-like weather.  I am the type of person who would much rather be hot than cold.

5.  Healthy snacks

Now that I’m well into the third trimester, I’m constantly hungry, and have found that having healthy snacks readily available helps to curb my hunger.  Did you catch my Peanut Butter Banana Bread recipe here on the blog yesterday?  I’ve loved snacking on this delicious treat mid-afternoon over the past several days.  Oh, and while you’re checking out the recipe, be sure to enter my Mighty Nut giveaway for your chance to win a bottle of Mighty Nut Powdered Peanut Butter.  (Giveaway ends next Wednesday at 11:50 p.m. EST.)

QOTD: What are you currently loving?

As always, thank you to the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) for hosting the weekly Friday Five Link Up.  Be sure to check out their posts as well!

  1. I still pull out the body pillow on occasion–I used it after I fell down the stairs and was so sore I couldn’t get comfy and after I had surgery.

  2. Glad you’re still enjoying your Mizunos AND body pillow! Running (run/walk, walk, whatever) and relaxing is a great plan at this stage 🙂

  3. Chaitali says:

Body pillows are great! And I’m definitely with you on loving the weather these past couple days. It’s been so pleasant compared to last weekend.

  4. Girl I STILL use my body pillow from when I was pregnant! The best thing ever!!! Right now I’m loving anything pumpkin…yum!!!

  5. I am surprised by how much I am liking the Mizunos. My foot is doing so much better in them. Have a great weekend

  6. Yes, this warmer weather in October is enjoyable but I hope it doesn’t make a nasty winter.

  7. Lesley says:

I’m liking my new shoes too. I haven’t run in them yet since my current shoes still have some good life left, but I wore my new shoes yesterday while running errands. They’re brand new and very cushy.

  8. Pam says:

I tried Mizunos when I was sent a free pair, but they just did not work for me. I donated them and hopefully someone got good use out of the,. My feet are happy in Brooks Ravenna and like you, I was fitted for them a few years ago and they still work well. So many pregnant women love those body pillows. It seems like a great way to be comfortable in bed. One thing I do remember is having to back into bed in the later stages of pregnancy. I was huge!!!

  9. tights! I can’t wait to break out my tights! I’m loving wearing boots again :). Have a great weekend!

  10. I just got a new pair if Mizunos too, the Wave Rider, my favorite. Sadly, I don’t know when I’ll get a chance to run in them 😢.

  11. I am loving this warmer fall weather as well. Enjoy it while it lasts bc soon enough it’ll feel like real fall weather and it’ll be time to start wearing layers unfortunately.

  12. Sue @ This Mama Runs For Cupcakes says:

OMG, I LOVED my body pillow when I was pregnant. My hubby hated it and wouldn’t let me keep it after pregnancy. I wanted to keep that sucker forever!

  13. carmyy says:

I love being able to wear tights to work – not pregnant here but it is SO comfortable I can only imagine how it’s way easier wearing than actual pants to work if I was pregnant

  14. Ariana says:

Sounds like some great things to be loving – I love your shoes!! Super pretty 🙂

I’ve been loving the warmer weather as well! It’s been beautiful here. I’m also loving the excitement surrounding my last race of the season this weekend – lots of fun and then it’s time for some rest and a winter of strength training!

  15. Jennifer says:

I just bought PB2 (which is probably similar to the Mighty Nut) and been looking for recipes. I’ll use yours recipe!

  16. I too am loving the Mizuno Wave Inspire 12. Oh and the body pillow! The body pillow was definitely my best friend when I was pregnant and made sleeping tolerable! I hope its helping you out!

  17. jillconyers says:

Oh I loved my body pillow when I was pregnant! I’ve only tried PB2.I must try Mighty Nut after reading so much about it. I’m a victim of the power of social media and influencers haha!

  18. Love the new shoes – the purple is a great color!

  19. Awesome things to love!
I have been having odd back pain lately, so I totally see your love with the body pillow as I have found it helps relieve the pressure on my back and night and is letting it heal:)
We too have been having warmer than normal fall temps, and I am loving it too! Hope we can both keep them for as long as possible!!!
