Disclaimer: Through my affiliation with FitFluential, I received a pair of Mizuno Wave Inspire 12s in exchange for my review of them. As always, all opinions are my own.
Since I was first fit for running shoes back in 2013, I’ve been loyal to Mizuno Wave Inspire running shoes. My feet require stability running shoes, and despite the changes that Mizuno Wave Inspires have gone through since I first started wearing the model 9 shoes, I haven’t worn any other running shoes but Mizunos over the past two years.
When I first found out about the opportunity to try out the new 12s, to say I was excited is an understatement. I have only worn the 9s and 10s, and since I continued to find the 10s on clearance in my size, I never upgraded to the 11s. So what specifically am I loving about the 12s?
The thing I love most about the 12s is the cushioning. I feel like I’m running on air when I’m wearing them. Given that I’m currently 30 weeks pregnant and running is getting progressively harder by the day, its nice to be wearing shoes that provide me with the necessary support while not adding bulk. The first time I ran in the shoes, it felt like they were already broken in. At no time did the box of the shoe feel tight around my toes, like most running shoes in the past have felt around my toes when I’ve first worn them. Both the 9s and 10s were tight in the toe box the first couple of times that I ran in them.
I’ve worn my Wave Inspire 12s both while out running on the street as well as when running on the treadmill. On both surfaces, the shoes have provided me with the support that I need, and in neither case did my feet feel “tired” after a run.
Thank you Mizuno for making a great new model of the Wave Inspires. I can’t wait to continue running in my Wave Inspire 12s!
QOTD: Are you loyal to one brand of shoes, or do you wear multiple brands?
I have read so many reviews on these shoes and they have all been 100% positive! If I ever break up with my beloved Asics Gel Nimbus, I’m going to check them out!
Oh I hope you never have to break up with a brand of shoes that you love. That would be such a sad day!
Mizunos are next on my to try list, everyone loves them!
Hope you like them as much as I do!
I really want to find a better shoe. I fell in love with the Wave Elixirs, but they no longer make them and I never found a replacement. I love Mizunos, but the last couple I tried werent so great. These look awesome! I HATE a tight toe box!!
Tight toe boxes are just painful.
I’m an Asics girl but Mizunos sound great! I love the color of yours! So pretty!
I’m loving the purple as well.
Mizuno Inspires are my fave shoe too, I want to get my hands on the 12s for sure!
Have you ordered yourself a pair yet?
I tried Brooks after leaving Asics but it never felt perfect the way the Asics used to. I went back and I think they got the kinks out when they upgraded to a new model 3 years ago.
That’s great to hear!
I am really loving the new Wave Inspires too- the past models haven’t fit me all that well but the 12’s are awesome!
The 12s are definitely my favorite of the three models that I’ve worn.
I’ve been considering Mizuno’s and I know they have a brand for neutral runners. They are so pretty and look to be really high quality. I’d love to have a model of shoes I can always count on!
Yes, its always great when you can rely on the fit being the same from one pair of shoes to the next.
I love the color! Do they have more cushioning that past versions? I have a pair of Mizunos that I love, but I feel like there isn’t enough cushioning for long runs.
They do feel a bit more cushioned than the 10s that I’ve been wearing.
How great these work for you! I’m not a stability shoe wearer but I do love my Sayonaras. I wear Asics for marathons though.
Yay for another Mizuno fan!
I stick with a brand until they change the shoe and make it so it’s no longer the reason I loved it:) Which happens far to often. I actually do love MIzuno’s, I currently run in the Mizuno Wave Rider 18’s, and I also run in the Wave Creation’s. One thing I love about Mizuno is they rarely change the shoe, and when they do and they know it was a mistake they fix it (This happened with a previous version of the Wave Riders.) I think you’ll love your new shoes!
I do appreciate when companies fix their mistakes with the next model.
Everyone seems to love Mizuno’s, I think when I start running again next spring I will have to try them out!
I hope they work out for you!
I too am loving these shoes. So light, comfy, and supportive! Plus the color is bright and fun. I bet they are keeping your feet comfy!
They definitely are!
Too funny, we wear the same running shoes! I love the Wave Inspires!! 🙂
Have you tried the new 12s yet?
I’m glad they work for you! I had a pair of Wave Inspire 9’s. They don’t work well with my wide feet. I am a loyal fan of the Hoka line, but I do like to switch up. Just recently won a pair of Brooks Transcend 2’s and I love them so far. Great stability, which is what I need.
Glad to hear that you’ve found a brand that works well for you.
I bounced around a lot in brands for a while, but I have settled into my Asics. I love them so much. I do have a few pair of Mizunos that I like as well, but I’m an Asics girl for the most part!
That’s great that you have a go to brand that you can count on.
I’ll be excited to try these! I love the shoe, but I’ve found them to be inflexible, which means my feet start to hurt about 9-10 miles into a run. So I just use them for shorter stuff.
Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that!
I think I’m going to try our Mizuno for my next running shoe. I’ve been looking but haven’t found THE shoe. Maybe Mizuno is it!
If you’re looking, there’s no harm in trying.
I tend to like asics the best, BUT I do have the Mizuno 11s and really like them – that’s what I’m running in now. I may have to try out the 12s!
If you’re enjoying your current pair of Mizunos you should definitely give them a try.
I got fitted for Nikes last year and I loved them- had never had Nikes since I was a kid! This year, my husband randomly bought me Brooks and although narrower in the toe, they had great arch support, for my high arches. But I may go back to Nikes- they were like slippers.
Glad you’ve found some shoes that work well for you.
My first pair of shoes was the Wave Inspire 9, and I loved them. I didn’t like the 10s that much, but I’m thinking that I might give the 12s a shot! These look cute and sound so comfy!
They’re very comfortable.
I LOVED the 9’s and they were my favorite running shoes ever and was saddened when they discontinued them. I kept reading reviews of the 10 that it wasn’t the same as the 9 and even some reps at shoes stores said the same. Thanks to your review, I will be giving the 12’s a look. Hopefully they are as good as the 9’s, if not better.
The 10s definitely didn’t have the same fit as the 9s, and I’m liking the 12s much more than the 10s I’ve run in.
I’m not loyal to one brand. Whatever fits these crazy custom orthodontics and gets rid of this plantar facititis ASAP, I’m in!
Sorry to hear that you battle plantar facititis.
I have heard so much about the Mizunos!! They looks like a great shoe and love the color!
I know how important it is to have great shoes, esp during pregnancy! 🙂
Yes, support is definitely important for me right now.
I have never run in Mizunos. I am not loyal to any particular brands. I like trying all different ones out. Luckily I am not prone to injury and have a neutral foot so trying different ones out does not effect me. My sister started running in Mizunos recently and she has been quite happy w them.
I am pretty loyal to Asics, but I think I need to go get fitted for running shoes again. Things feel slightly different running after my pregnancy, so I think it may benefit me to check in to that!

The last three years I’ve been loyal to Brooks, but I want to start a rotation of the Wave Inspires after this month. I’m due to buy a new pair and I’m really liking the color options of the Inspires.
