Happy early Fourth of July everybody! Anybody have any big plans for celebrating our nation’s birthday? Preston and I will be spending the holiday with friends, first with dinner followed by us all going to see the fireworks together. Its going to be a semi-low key evening, just what I’m in the mood for.
I’ve been enjoying my first full week of summer vacation. I’ve taken full advantage of my extra time this past week, getting lots done both at home and on the fitness front.
1. I ran my second virtual race last night, the All 4 Run Virtual Four Mile Race with Gone for a Run. It was a fun way to get my miles in yesterday.
2. I’ve spent quite a bit of time this week working on our baby registries. Its amazing how much stuff kids need, and how many choices are out there! Its all a bit overwhelming, which makes me very thankful that I’m getting an early start.
3. Preston and I made our first big baby item purchase this week! The pack ‘n’ play that we want was on super sale at Babies ‘r’ Us, so I headed there Tuesday afternoon to make the purchase.
4. Tomorrow I’ll be running my ninth race of the year, the Firecracker 5k. This will be the third year that Preston and I have run this race. Its a fun way to kick off the 4th of July festivities.
5. On Monday I head back to work part time for two weeks. I’ll be working on a curriculum development project for 20 hours each week. Its a nice balance of time off and earning a little extra money.
QOTD: What are your 4th of July plans?
As always, thank you to the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) for hosting the weekly Friday Five Link Up. Be sure to check out their posts as well!
I’m running that virtual 4 miler tomorrow! And I have a live 10k on Sunday. Otherwise, a pretty low-key weekend for us.
Sometimes low key weekends are the best.
I always loved shopping for baby stuff!! A pack and play is one of the most handy purchases!
Good luck at your 5K!
Thanks Amy!
ooh all the baby registry stuff is so much fun! It’s amazing how much stuff there is to buy!
Right?!?
Babies definitely come with a lot of stuff!! We are going to have a quiet weekend with friends. Have a great holiday weekend!
You too!
It’s so much fun buying baby stuff! Happy 4th of July to you! We celebrated Canada day Wednesday so tomorrow will be as normal for us 😉 Have a great weekend.
Its definitely a lot of fun and overwhelming at the same time.
Good luck for the Fourth of July Firecracker race! Have an awesome holiday weekend and enjoy getting ready for the little one to arrive 🙂
Thanks!
I love our pack’n’play! That’s where our baby sleeps right now, actually.
I’m sure our baby will spend a lot of time in their’s too.
What pack n play did you get? We got a cheap one at a garage sale because we weren’t going to use it often (we had a bassinet) but I HATE it! It is so hard to fold up and down! We registered on Amazon and i loved the convenience of that, but if I did it again I’d register at a brick & mortor store too.
We got a Graco one.
Hope you have a fun 4th of July celebration. Stay safe!
Thanks!
Love the picture of you with the flag and medal. Very patriotic! We’re just doing the usual picnics and fireworks. Maybe i’ll even get a little swim in with Baylee.
That picture spot might have been purposefully selected.
Good times. I can’t imagine how overwhelming baby prep must be these days. It’s like a giant industry of must-haves or your gonna be a bad parent/person. YIKES! My plans are to pick colors for painting the living room, eat bbq ribs, and I have a 5k in two hours. Oh, and relax. 😀
Its definitely very overwhelming!
Yey for baby stuff!! And I saw on IG that you did a great job on your race! I have a 3-mile run on tap for today, but I’m waiting for the rain to clear up a bit.
Thanks! I’m super proud of the fact that I didn’t give up despite the rain.
There is so many choices for baby stuff now adays, I had a big party for 4th of July. The last before my move!
Hope you enjoyed the party!
this weekend was fun but tiring! all my running and pure barre and good food has left me exhausted 🙂
For the first time in forever no July 4th race for me. My husband ran a 5k. For me it was HIIT and Yoga.
I ran the virtual 4 miler on Friday… with my boys. Ha! It wasn’t as fast or fun as a real race… but I did it. 🙂
Shopping for baby stuff is so fun! It is just always the cutest. 🙂
Hope you had a great 4th of July and congrats on running 9 races so far!
