When Blogging Friends are Also Real Life Friends

The term “blends” is common among bloggers – bloggers who have become friends as a result of meeting and connecting online, usually over Social Media.  But what about when bloggers were friends before they started blogging?

Kathleen and I at dinner in Georgetown last April when she was in DC to run Nike Women’s Half Marathon

Kathleen and I have been friends since high school.  We were not the runners in our group of friends though.  I was the dancer, and Kathleen was on our high school golf team.  As our high school friends have found out that we’ve each picked up running, they’ve been a bit shocked that out of everybody in our group that we’re the two that have started running.  Out of everybody in our close group of friends, we were the least likely to have ever started running.

I’m excited to share Shamrock weekend with Kathleen.  She currently lives outside of Chicago, and is flying in Friday morning for the race, and then we’ll drive to Virginia Beach together Friday afternoon.  She is on a quest to run a half marathon in every state, and back in the fall when I mentioned the possibility of running Shamrock, she said that she’d be interested if I decided to run it, as this will check Virginia off of her 50 state list.  We both registered for the Dolphin Challenge on the same day, and are looking forward to enjoying the race weekend together.  We’ll both also be pushing to PR at the half marathon on Sunday (I’ll share my goals for Shamrock with all of you tomorrow).

You can count on seeing lots of pictures of the two of us posted on Social Media this weekend!  Be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and Kathleen on Twitter!

QOTD: Were you real life friends with any bloggers before you both started blogging?

Aww, that’s so cool! 😀 I don’t have any real life friends who’ve become bloggers, although I do have two who talked about starting up a group one with me! It unfortunately never came to fruition, but maybe someday, they’ll pick it up!

  2. I don’t have any friends who blog, but have made some GREAT friends because of blogging. It’s SO great to not ever have to worry about running a Disney race alone again! Have a great time and best of luck to both of you! I hear the shirts this year are going to be awesome!

  3. Aww that’s awesome you two have been friends for so long and are now both bloggers! I love that you both did different sports but are now into running. Good luck and have a blast running the race together!

So fun!! I have a few friends who have started blogs, but I am probably the most faithful/biggest into it right now. It’s a great way to keep in touch with people!

  17. Two of my neighbours are bloggers – one is a food blogger and the other is professional blogger and writer. I knew both of them before discovering that we were each bloggers and have found that our shared interest in blogging has brought us closer. While the three of us have different niches, it’s interesting to talk about how the online marketing techniques of one niche can transfer well into another niche. Have a great race with your bestie!

  18. I don’t have any friends that then also became bloggers, but I do have a ton of new friends that I met through blogging 🙂

  19. What a great story. I only have one friend who is a blogger. Most don’t really do social media but I’m ok with that. I always enjoy meeting my social media friends for the first time in real life.
