Teachers don’t have the easiest schedule when it comes to eating. My alarm goes off at 4:30 a.m., which causes me to eat breakfast well before many people have even gotten up for the day. My lunch period is from 10:25 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., a time when many people take their mid-morning coffee break. By the time the dismissal bell rings at 2:05 p.m., my body is usually screaming for a snack.
Over the past couple of weeks, I have been thoroughly enjoying the Special K Snack Bars. I love to keep my desk stocked with granola and snack bars, and these bars from Special K have proven to be the perfect mid-afternoon snack. At only 100 calories each, they are satisfying but not heavy and overfilling.
Kellogg’s recently introduced this new line of snack bars. The Special K Snack Bars are made from “tasty, wholesome ingredients that you can see – like, rich chocolatey chunks, crunchy salted pretzels, real fruit pieces and chewy rolled oats.”
Unlike some snack bars, the Special K Snack Bars are chewy and aren’t hard to bite into. Another reason why I’ve enjoyed these snack bars is because they aren’t overly sweet. My body has difficulty digesting overly sweet foods, especially in large quantities. The Special K Snack Bars offer a hint of sweetness while not upsetting my stomach.
There are four different flavors of Special K Snack Bars:
Salted Caramel Chocolate
Salted Pretzel Chocolate
Although I have been enjoying the taste of all four flavors, the Berry Medley and Blueberry Bliss snack bars have stood out as my favorites. Once I finish the sample bars that I was sent, you can bet that I’ll be headed to the grocery store to stock up on more of these delicious bars. They are sold in boxes of six for a suggested retail price of $2.69.
