December 2014 Monthly Goals

Is it really already the last month of 2014?!?  This year has flown by, and I cannot believe that I’m setting my last set of 2014 goals!  But before I set my December goals, let’s first look back at my November goals.

nov 2014 goals

1.  Run, walk, and elliptical a total of 70 miles.

Grade: B

My final mileage total for November was 53.9 miles.  I’m not too disappointed in myself though, especially since I battled a cold earlier in the month that sidelined me from working out.  Given how long the cold affected me, I’d say it was a very successful month of training.

2.  Keep up with my cross training.

Grade: B+

Most weeks, I was able to cross train at least once, if not twice.  Whether it was on the elliptical, walking with Riley, or practicing yoga, I was able to keep up with my cross training this past month.

3.  Weight train at least twice a week.

Grade: C+

Some weeks were better than others.  If only I had more time (and spent less of it sitting in traffic after work)!

4.  Maintain my weight.

Grade: A

I successfully maintained my weight throughout the month.  No matter how many temptations I faced at work, or how tempted I was to overindulge over Thanksgiving, I did not gain any weight.

5.  Rediscover my interest in yoga.

Grade: A

With the assistance of Gaiam TV, I’ve started using different yoga videos.  This has helped respark my interest in yoga, and I can’t wait to continue practicing yoga with this new series.

Each time I set five monthly goals for myself, I know that I’ve set the bar really high for myself.  It definitely isn’t easy to keep up with five goals, but it definitely is fun trying.  For December, I’m going to focus on only three goals though.

dec 2014 goals

1.  Run, walk, and elliptical a total of 70 miles.

Since I didn’t reach my mileage goal in November, I’m going to push myself to meet it this month.

2.  Cross train at least once a week.

Life just seems to be getting busier and busier lately, so I’m going to try and keep my cross training realistic.  If I can cross train once a week I’ll be happy, and if I can cross train more than once then I’ll be even happier.

3.  Maintain my weight.

Now that the holiday season is in full swing, I want to ensure that I’m making healthy choices and keeping my weight in check.  This will be especially challenging towards the end of the month when we’ll be away from home for ten days, but I’m up for the challenge.

While you did not hit your mileage go, I think you were pretty close. Great job getting back to Yoga too. That is one of my goals for January, but since we are in the midst of a move, I can’t think about Yoga class at the moment. My biggest goal starts on Dec 20th, when I start my Boston Marathon training plan. Eek, getting so excited, and nervous too!

You did a great job with your yoga this month and you got pretty close to your running goal despite your cold and how busy it got. For me December is all about getting back to my normal routine (eating and working out before the marathon). One of my 2015 goals is to breakdown my yearly goals into monthly goals to make them more measurable. I’ll start with a December one tomorrow 🙂

  3. Great job Kathryn! You did awesome with your mileage goal despite getting sick! And I so need to do more yoga…Good luck in December too!

  4. Lesley says:

I think I’ve found the perfect day for yoga at home, and I intend to keep up with that.

  5. It is always challenging over the holidays to not gain a few pounds with all those temptations. You did it for November so I am sure you can do it again for December even with traveling. My goal for December is to continue training for Goofy. I can’t believe it’s right around the corner.

  6. great job on your nov goals – i think you’ll rock this month — and yes, i also can barely believe it’s dec!!!

These are great goals! My goal is to join a gym because there is like no sunlight here anymore and I feel like I can never go running! Good luck with your December goals, especially that last one!
