Happy belated Thanksgiving everybody! I had hoped to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving prior to now, but you may have noticed things have been a bit quiet here on the blog this week. That wasn’t my intention, but lots of things at work and in regular life took more time than expected earlier this week, and then things got even busier when we tried to beat the first DC snowfall of the year and get out of town before the weather got bad. We weren’t supposed to leave until Wednesday afternoon, but fortunately, we were able to rebook our flight and leave at 6am Wednesday morning. As it turns out, our original flight wasn’t canceled, but you never know what could have happened!
With yesterday having been Thanksgiving, its only appropriate that I dedicate this week’s Friday Five to highlighting what I’m most thankful for. I did this last year, and I plan to write a similar post every year.
Its important to remember what we’re thankful for throughout the year, not just around Thanksgiving. Since the beginning of November, I’ve been participating in two photo a day challenges on Instagram, which has helped me to step back and recognize the little things that I’ve been thankful for each day. I have so much to be thankful for, including:
1. My health and my physical ability to run
Not everybody is physically able to run or workout to the abilities that they’d like to, and having the ability to be as active as I am is something that I cannot take for granted.
2. My parents
My parents have made so many things possible for me, and although I’ve said it many times already, I’m beyond thankful that they made the trip to Disney World in January to see me cross the finish line of my first half marathon. After how supportive they were throughout my years of dancing, and how involved my mom was back stage at each dance performance, it was perfect to be able to celebrate my running milestone with them back in January.
3. Our dog, Riley
Preston and I absolutely love and adore our first child, our two year old English Springer Spaniel. He’s the perfect companion, cuddler, and all around best pal.
4. Fabulous friends
I am beyond thankful for all of my wonderful friends, near and far, in person and online. Its wonderful to have all of you in my life!
5. My husband
Preston is by far the most important person in my life. He is the most supportive husband I could have ever asked for, and is there for me in so many ways. When I’m struggling, he knows exactly how to help me, and when I’ve accomplished something, he always comes up with the perfect way to celebrate. Its hard to believe that last week marked the five year anniversary of our first date. I cannot wait to celebrate another five, ten, fifty years together.
QOTD: What are you most thankful for?
As always, thank you to the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) for hosting the weekly Friday Five Link Up. Be sure to check out their posts as well!
