Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach Half Marathon Training Log – Week 14

Another busy week has come to an end!  I spent the week working on the second half of my annual summer curriculum project, and more importantly, Preston and I celebrated our third anniversary!  Our anniversary was on Wednesday, and to celebrate, we went out to dinner Saturday evening.  We’ll also be spending this coming weekend in Charlottesville and will continue celebrating while there.

This week marked another milestone in my half marathon training: I’m only one double digit run away from race day!  I logged some heavy miles last week, and my sore legs are definitely looking forward to a bit less running this coming week.  Maybe it’ll be a good time for me to make yoga a high priority, especially since it’ll help my sore muscles and its one of my monthly goals.

Mon 7/28 – 3.35 mile walk with Riley on the Cub Run Stream Valley Trail

Tues 7/29 – 3.10 mile treadmill run, 0.45 mile cool down walk, kettlebell squats, abs, chest, arms, back, shoulders

Wed 7/30 – 2.96 mile walk with Riley around the neighborhood

Thurs 7/31 – 3.22 mile neighborhood run, 0.20 mile cool down walk, abs

Fri 8/1 – Rest day

Sat 8/2 – 12.58 mile run on the Cub Run Stream Valley Trail, 0.49 mile cool down walk

Sun 8/3 – Rest day

Total Weekly Mileage – 26.15 miles (14.96 miles more than week 13)

Total Half Marathon Training Mileage – 209.93 miles

I shared on Instagram and Facebook on Saturday the other milestone that I hit over the weekend – I logged my 1,000th mile since I started running!  I’ll commemorate this milestone tomorrow with a separate blog post.  For now, I’ll be resting my tired legs and taking things a bit easier this coming week.

  1. Awesome week of training! I throw on my compression socks and ice when needed. Gotta do what you need to do to prevent injuries!

    Congrats on the 1000th mile, that’s awesome! I usually rest after a hard run with stretching, compression socks and ice. Later in the day I throw in some foam rolling and probably some yoga the next day.
