We did it – we’ve moved into our new townhouse! The big move was on Saturday, and although there are a couple of small things still at our apartment, mainly large framed photos and wall art, 95% of our belongings are now at our new house. The house is a bit of a mess, which is to be expected, but each day we’re getting more and more unpacked and set up. On Sunday a friend and I unpacked and set up the kitchen (its the only room that’s fully unpacked), and it feels so great to have a fully functioning kitchen again and to be able to cook! Sunday night we were able to use our new grill for the first time – one of the many new things that we had been looking forward to buying for our new house since they were prohibited at our apartment complex.
I’ve decided to skip my weekly training log update for last week and combine weeks 11 and 12 into one recap next week, as I only ran once last week. I’m amazed that I kept up with my training as much as I did during week 10, and fortunately the long run that I missed over the weekend was only four miles. Part of my challenge this week is that we’ve haven’t transferred our gym membership yet, and we’re now 35 minutes without traffic from our apartment and old gym. We live in the DC area after all and there’s very few times during the day when there isn’t traffic, so the idea of possibly driving close to an hour each way to get to the gym right now isn’t ideal given how much else we need to focus on.
In case you didn’t see my post on Facebook yesterday, I will be without internet at home all week. The internet at our apartment was turned off on Friday, and the earliest appointment I could get to set up our cable and internet at the house is for this coming Sunday. I’m hoping to get to Starbucks or Panera each day to write a blog post, but if I miss another day this week that’s why. I can’t wait for everything to return to normal next week so that I can catch up on all my blog reading and feel like a normal 21st century person again!
QOTD: What is one thing that took slower than you wanted it to when you last moved?
Yay! Congrats! Moving can be overwhelming so it’s great that you’re half way settled!! 🙂

Thanks Karen!
Glad you’re starting to feel settled – such an exciting time! And good call setting up the kitchen first! There’s nothing worse than having to wonder where you’re getting food when you’re starving from working so hard around the house! Can’t wait to see more photos 🙂
Completely agree Christine. Best unpacking decision ever!
Congratulations! The last time I moved, I was moving into my boyfriend’s house. Two things took longer than I anticipated, cleaning my old place and sorting through my boyfriend’s and my stuff (getting rid of things we had doubles of and consolidating our things). Moving is a pain, hopefully you get settled soon!
Consolidating is always so difficult. My husband and I went through that when we moved into our apartment four years ago. We realized as we were packing that we still hadn’t gotten rid of a lot of the doubles!
Having a grill is a luxury I look forward to once we move out of our apartment. It opens up so many new cooking ideas. Glad you’re getting settled in 🙂
It definitely does! Buying a grill was one of the first things we put on the “must buy” list for our house.
Internet!! I needed it for my job, since I work ALL THE TIME. Luckily there was a Starbucks nearby I could live in the few days we were without it 🙂
I’m currently sitting at Starbucks for the third day in a row! Sunday when we’re scheduled to have our cable and internet set up cannot come fast enough!
Loved the picture of the grill you posted this weekend! Glad to hear you are settling in and you have the kitchen up and running. What took me by surprise was how long it took me to fill up my apartment space (furniture and decor) when going from a smaller space to a larger space. I suppose it is a balance of money, time, and overall pickiness 🙂 Four years later my dining area is still pretty bare. Can’t wait to see more pics!
We’re definitely being picky about big purchases. We’ve decided to live with a couple of less than ideal pieces of furniture until we find the right pieces for us.
