Phew, what a week its been! Thanks to everybody for your words of congratulations here on the blog, as well as on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Between closing on our new house, scrubbing the house from top to bottom, starting to paint, and trying to stay on track with my training plan, its been one long and exhausting week. Cleaning took a day longer than we expected (to say the seller left the house dirty is an understatement!), and painting is going much, much slower than expected. We also still have a lot to pack in our apartment before we move on Saturday, so I know this coming week is going to be another long and exhausting one.
In addition to closing on our house being the highlight of the week, yesterday I also completed my first double digit run since I ran the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run back in April. It felt incredible to turn RunKeeper off yesterday as I ended my run, knowing that I had run 10 miles! I also ran the Firecracker 5k Friday morning (recap coming soon), so altogether I completed four runs this week.
Given how busy we’ve been with the house, I’m very pleased with my workouts from this past week. While I only weight trained once and didn’t find time for yoga, I’m very proud of myself for sticking with my planned mileage and getting all of my runs in.
Mon 6/30 – 3.03 mile run on the Mt. Vernon Trail and around the Lincoln Memorial, 2.75 mile walk on the Mt. Vernon Trail
Tues 7/1 – Rest day
Wed 7/2 – 3.10 mile treadmill run, 0.23 mile cool down walk, kettlebell squats, abs, legs, glutes
Thurs 7/3 – 1.16 mile walk around the neighborhood with Riley
Fri 7/4 – Firecracker 5k
Sat 7/5 – Rest day
Sun 7/6 – 10.22 mile run on the W&OD Trail
Total Weekly Mileage – 23.63 miles (8.50 miles more than week 9)
Total Half Marathon Training Mileage – 144.28 miles
With all of the work we hope to accomplish this week on the house, as well as needing to finish packing, I know its going to be another crazy week. While its going to be difficult to get everything done and stay on track with my training, I’m definitely up for the challenge! I’ll be pushing myself to the limit, both physically and emotionally, but it’ll all be worth it in the end.
I’m going to try my best to keep up with my planned blog posts for the week, but if I’m not able to carve out time to write, please know that I’m thinking about all of you and appreciate your patience during this busy and exciting time!
QOTD: Any tips for how to ensure that I stay on track with my training during this extremely busy week?
My tip for stating in track is don’t freak out if you don’t. You’ve done awesome and one bust week won’t kill your training. Try to squeeze your runs in, you have plan so you know what you need to do!
Thanks for the support! I haven’t been able to work out the way I want to with how crazy everything’s been, but I’m grateful for the time I have been able to spend training.
Congrats on your 10 miler! And congrats on the house! Looks like your training is coming along great!
Thanks!
You’re killing it as always girlie, way to go!
Thanks!
I’m sorry to hear the previous owners left the house dirty 😦 We paid for cleaners to come clean our condo when we moved out so it would be in good condition for the next people who lived there. That’s so impressive that you’ve been able to keep up with your planned runs while going through all the house stuff too!
I thought it was pretty common sense to leave a house at least halfway clean, but I guess I’m wrong. Our realtor said it was the worst state that she’s seen a non-foreclosure house left in over the past 3-4 years.
That is one of my all time favorite quotes!
Glad you like it!
Nice work! It’s always tough to manage workouts when life is busy. Great job hitting all your runs. You are going to be well prepared for RnR VB!
That’s what I’m hoping for!
You’re doing AWESOME, especially with how crazy it can be to move into a new home. This is such an exciting time for you guys! Keep up the great work — sounds like you’re going to be ready to rock VB! 😀
Thanks!
Great job on your runs! Can’t wait to see how the house comes together!
I can’t wait to share some before and after photos once we’re finally done painting.
You’re doing great!! CB10 feels like it was SO long ago now 🙂 Look fwd to hearing more about the house stuff!
It does feel like it was forever ago, lol.
Make sure to take time for yourself and don’t push yourself too far. The blog can take second fiddle to life and we will all understand 🙂 Hope the packing and moving goes smoothly!
Definitely trying my best to find balance with everything that’s going on right now.
