For awhile I thought that today would never get here! But it has, and I’m so excited since today is the long awaited last day of school for the year! After 11 snow days and numerous two hour delays, our school year was extended into this week, but the end is finally here!

Was it really just ten months ago that my classroom was ready to welcome students for the 2013-2014 school year?
Its going to be a fast summer, jam packed with lots of fun activities and races. I’m currently registered for three races between now and when the 2014-2015 school year starts, including my first 20k in August and my third half marathon over Labor Day weekend. We’ll be closing on our first house next week, celebrating our third wedding anniversary at the end of July, and hopefully getting away for a long weekend to celebrate our anniversary (travel plans are in the works!). Although we’ve gone to California for the past two years to celebrate our anniversary (Napa and Sonoma for five days in 2012 to celebrate our first anniversary and Southern California for two weeks last year to celebrate our second anniversary), we want to focus much of our time and money this summer to making our first house truly feel like our home.
My big fitness goal for the summer, in addition to continuing to train for Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach, is to log my 1,000th mile. My RunKeeper account currently shows that I’ve run, walked, and ellipticaled just over 900 miles since I started running last March. I’m sure over the next 9.5 weeks before school starts again I’ll log at least 100 miles, and I cannot wait to reach my 1,000 mile milestone!
For awhile, it felt like school was never going to end and that summer vacation would never arrive. I know that many people across the country have already been out of school for a month, and I’m so glad that summer is finally here for me as well! Its going to be a fantastic summer, I just know it!
QOTD: What are you looking forward to doing this summer?
Vacation in the Keys this summer = relax!
Sounds perfect!
Happy summer vacation! I had to work 80 extra hours as an instructional coach (I’m teacher contract + 10 days) and today is my last day, too! Too bad I’m teaching summer school this year
I remember not getting out of school one year until June 28th. JUNE 28TH!!! Awesome job on the mileage and that big 1000 will be here before you know it! Our vacation won’t be until September and we’re going….wait for it…Napa! Great minds think (and travel) alike! 🙂
You’re going to LOVE Napa! So many great wineries and restaurants to choose from!
Woohoo! You have SO many exciting things going on right now, congrats! I’m most excited about going back to DL for Dumbo Double Dare, not gonna lie. 😀
I can’t wait to run another runDisney race! Where’s that money tree at? 😉
Yay for summer vacation! I’m looking forward to my training for my first half marathon and some small little weekend getaways we’re planning.
After how you crushed that 10k last weekend I know that you’ll do awesome at your first half!
Yay! Summertime! We’ve already done our big summer outing…our trip to California! The rest of the summer will be spent around home. 🙂
Spending time at home is always nice. 🙂
You are SO CLOSE to mile 1000! That’s awesome!
Congrats on making it through the school year! It sounds like you have an awesome summer of races ahead of you. I’d love to get to the beach this summer but who knows if that will happen. We’re trying to save our money for Disney in January. 🙂
I wish I could go to the beach every weekend, but its so expensive to stay there, and we aren’t close enough for day trips. 😦
Sooo much to celebrate! Have a wonderful summer vacation and yayy for reaching 1,000!
Thanks Jennifer!
Yay for Summer! I’m looking forward to running the Hood to Coast relay this Summer 🙂
