Friday Five – June 20th

TGIF!  If your schedule has been anything like mine lately, its been jam packed, crazy, and all around nuts.  Lately, I’ve felt like I’m on the go more than I’ve been able to sit still.  On Wednesday, I left for work at 6:15 a.m., and since we had a late afternoon graduation ceremony didn’t get home until 9:00 p.m….it was a long day!

I haven’t done a random Friday Five in awhile, but with so much going on right now, I thought this week would be perfect for one.

1.  We’re finally in the home stretch of the school year!

The end of this never ending school year is finally in sight!  Graduation was Wednesday evening, and today is the last day of underclassmen final exams.  We have three half days and a quarter day left of school, and then it’ll finally be summer break.  I never want to be in school til June 25th again!

2.  We’ll be starting the packing process this weekend.

We’re still on track to close on our townhouse on July 2nd.  I’ve been collecting boxes at work for the past couple of weeks, and our plan this weekend is to start cleaning out some closets and to start packing some boxes.

For much of the week, we were in the midst of an early summer heat wave in DC.  In fact, on Wednesday, The Washington Post reported that DC was the hottest location in the country that day.

4.  The heat and humidity’s early arrival has resulted in some very sweaty runs.

I refuse to let the heat and humidity stop me though.  I’ve been pushing through, with the mindset of “no excuses.”

5.  I have a new personal best for running: I’ve increased my average monthly pace.

fastest monthly pace

RunKeeper sent me an e-mail last night congratulating me for my achievement.  What an incredible e-mail to have received, especially since running in the heat and humidity hasn’t been the easiest thing.

QOTD: What has the weather been like in your neck of the woods?  What is something you’re looking forward to doing this weekend?  Any recent fitness milestones?

As always, thank you to the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) for hosting the weekly Friday Five Link Up.  Be sure to check out their posts as well!

  1. Congrats on your new personal best and I can’t believe you will be closing so soon on your house! Great!

  2. Congrats on the new running PB’s. Just in time for summer huh? So glad school is over too. I know have two HS students.

Congrats on the new personal best! :] It’s been warming up over here and I really wish I could go enjoy it, but…I’d get too distracted, so I make myself study in a basement where I can’t be tempted to frolic outside, haha.

  4. Rebecca Jo says:

    Great job on that pace!!!
Its a sweaty mess around here too… that time of the year 🙂

  5. TOTALLY agree on the early DC Heatwave! And, very impressed by your determination! I’ve definitely taken a few runs inside this week…but today seems like a perfect running day! Hope we’re both able to get out there!

  6. Congrats girl on your new personal best, the new home, and the end of the school year! It’s super hot and humid here in Alabama. It was quite the shock since I enjoyed temps in the 50’s in California the past 2 weeks!

  7. look at you, getting faster! that’s awesome. nice work. i’m hoping y’alls weekend is super productive.

  8. Wow – that’s a really late finish to the school year. That must be pretty brutal for the teachers and students.Good luck with the packing. Congrats on your new personal best – that’s always exciting, especially when it’s an increase in pace 🙂 The weather in Chicago has been a little wacky (no surprise there), going from 90 one day to 60 the next, mixed with humidity, rain, wind, fog, and sunshine. You never know what you’ll get the next day… the weather app/weathermen are never correct haha.

  9. What a great accomplishment! my husband keeps telling me to use RunKeeper instead of the Nike app, I just dont like change! But I may need to try it!

  10. Coco says:

Wednesday was hot, but that just made today seem that much nicer! Good luck with packing and moving.
