I’m a sucker for a good motivational quote. Part of this is due to my desire to always seek improvement, and part of this is to help me stay focused during times of frustration and stress.
Motivational quotes are great for runners, as they help runners to focus on what’s important. Often times, its easy to compare ourselves to other runners, despite the fact that running is an individual sport, and progress is measured based on our own improvement as opposed to our pace as compared to others. For that reason alone, I find comfort in motivational quotes, or as the DC Trifecta has termed it this week, Fitness Truths.
With this being a Friday Five post, I’ve decided to share five of my favorite Fitness Truths with you. I’ve turned to many of these quotes as sources of motivation since I started running.
QOTD: What is your favorite Fitness Truth?
As always, thank you to the DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) for hosting the weekly Friday Five Link Up. Be sure to check out their posts as well!
I agree! Running is such a personal triumph! Happy friday friend!
Same to you friend! 🙂
I love all those quotes!!! That’s one thing I love about running…that it is such an individual sport!
Absolutely, and every runner can find different meaning and purpose in it.
I love those quotes too! I think it’s important to remember your own goals and not get caught up in other people’s goals. Fun linking up today #FridayFive
Absolutely!
I especially love that Fred Lebow one!
His quotes are so inspirational!
I love all of these, especially the first one. It’s so true. I’ve had more runs go horribly wrong because I was in the wrong head space!
Mental strength plays such an important role in running.
yes. running is SO SO mental and it’s important to remember that when it gets tough 🙂
Absolutely. Its hard to remember to do so, but I try my best to use my tough runs as motivation to push myself that much harder the next time.
Fred Devito ain’t never lied. That is my all-time favorite quote!! I live by that.
Such a great quote to live by!
Love this especially the first and third one. On the wall at my gym is that quote “if it doesn’t challenge you it doesn’t change you” awesome.
Such a great quote to have at the gym!
I love #1 and #5! It is amazing how mental running can be!
Who knew?!?
I love these! All great ones!
These are great!
I love motivational quotes too! Sometimes when I am running they are great to think of to help you push through to the end.
Absolutely!
Love those quotes! Gave me a good start to my morning! Thanks!
Glad you found them helpful!
That last one gave me chills – I love these!!!
They’re so motivational! 🙂
