This past week was jam packed and filled to the brim with lots of activity. Although I didn’t work out as much as I had hoped to, I certainly can’t think of any other time this past week that I could have squeezed another workout in.
The weekend was the busiest part of the entire week. On Saturday, we had not one, not two, but three events on our calendar. We kicked off Saturday with the Jaguar 5k, which if you follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram already know that I PRed! This was my first repeat race, and I knocked 44 seconds off of last year’s finish time! I’ll of course recap the race in full, and reflect on exactly what allowed me to PR.
After the race we celebrated our good friends’ daughter’s one year old birthday. And then we topped off our already busy Saturday with dinner with one of my friends from high school. Kathleen from Sister to Sister Running was in DC to run the Nike Women’s Half Marathon yesterday, and I’m so glad it worked out for us to meet up for dinner. It had been way too long since we’d last seen each other!
Yesterday we kicked off our house hunting search with our first outing with our relator. We saw five houses yesterday afternoon, and although we’re still far from finding our first house, it was very exciting to get the search started.
Despite how busy my weekend was, and how busy my first week back at work since Spring Break was, I still managed to get a couple of good workouts in this past week.
Mon 4/21 – 3.10 mile treadmill run, 0.73 mile cool down walk, kettlebell squats swings, abs, legs, glutes, arms, shoulders, chest
Tues 4/22 – Rest day
Wed 4/23 – 2.13 mile treadmill run, 0.41 mile cool down walk, glutes, abs, arms, shoulders
Thurs 4/24 – Rest day
Fri 4/25 – Rest day
Sat 4/26 – Jaguar 5k
Sun 4/27 – Rest day
Total Weekly Mileage – 9.51 miles
And if life weren’t already busy enough, I’ll be kicking off my 18 week training cycle today for Rock ‘n’ Roll Virginia Beach. I can’t wait to get my training underway as I prepare to run half marathon #3! Some are questioning how much I have on my plate at this point and whether I should be starting to train for another major race. I’m the type of person that would rather be over than under scheduled, and with that in mind I’ve turned to T.S. Eliot for inspiration as I kick off this busy week.
QOTD: How do you fit in work outs during busy weeks?
Sounds like a great week and congrats on the PR! I met Kathleen and her sister at the Blogger Brunch this weekend. As far as fitting in runs on busy weeks, I’m still trying to figure it out. It definitely helps when I have them scheduled in to my week to begin with rather than winging it. And I learned this week that it’s better to schedule them early rather than in the afternoon or I might just be too tired from other activities 😦
I have to put them on my calendar as well. If they aren’t on the calendar, they likely won’t be completed.
We aren’t too far from each other. I’m in Richmond. Congrats on your PR! #TeamStellar
Thanks! Hopefully I’ll see you at a future race! #teamstellar
