Happy Friday everybody! Is it just me, or did this week feel very long? That might be partly due to the fact that this week was only my second full week of work since the holidays. Between numerous Snow Days and two hour delays (between all of our Snow Days and delays we’ve lost over three weeks of school this year!), our racecation to Disney World, and being stuck at home recovering, last week was my first full week of work since December. And to cap off my second full week of work, I’ll be at school tomorrow morning proctoring a practice AP exam for my AP World students. Spring Break can’t come soon enough – only one more week to go!
The DC Trifecta Bloggers (Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Mar from Mar on the Run, and Cynthia from You Signed Up For What?!) made this week an unnthemed linkup week. Since an individual theme didn’t immediately come to mind, I have five random things to share with you this week.
1. Today marks the end of the third grading period at school.
Since I started teaching six years ago, third quarter has always been the most exhausting and mentally draining quarter of the year. This year was definitely no exception to that, especially since we haven’t had Spring Break yet. Between AP exams, end of course state exams, and numerous spring activities, fourth quarter always flies by!
2. Its finally nice enough outside to not have to wear tights with my dresses and skirts.
I loved being able to just throw on a dress, cardigan, and flats yesterday for work. So much more comfortable, especially since I spend as much time on my feet during the day as I do.
3. I can’t wait to run my first Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run on Sunday.
I’ve been so excited about this race since I first found out that my lottery entry in December had secured me a spot in this DC tradition. The weather is looking like it’ll be perfect for running this weekend too.
4. I have successfully kept up with what I gave up for Lent: eating chocolate candy.
The week that I wound up in the hospital I was overfeeding myself candy, particularly chocolate candy. Our librarians at school keep a candy dish filled with chocolate, and that week I purposefully went into the library several times a day with the intention of leaving with a handful of candy. My neurologist suspects that my overindulgence of candy may have contributed to my recent health scare, so I used his advisement to avoid it as my inspiration for what to give up for Lent this year. With only two weeks of Lent left, I hope to continue this practice well beyond Lent.
5. Yesterday the UPS man delivered my birthday present to my myself that I ordered last Friday.
I took advantage of the LOFT Friends and Family deal last weekend, and I love shopping. Need I say more?
The other exciting thing about this week is that I’m currently hosting my first giveaway! If you haven’t already, be sure to enter my Spartan Race giveaway for your chance to win a race entry to a 2014 Spartan Race of your choice.
QOTD: What about Spring makes you most happy?
Being able to wear dresses and sandals is one of my favorite things about Spring 🙂
Its one of the best little things ever! 🙂
Loving the warmer weather here…except when I run lol! Have a blast at your race this weekend!!!
Thanks Mindy! I’d trade the warm southern weather for all the crappy snow and cold temps we’ve had this year.
Awe, all really great randoms! 😉 I taught for 2 years (high school for 1/middle school for 1) so I know exactly how you feel with the tiredness before spring break!! Several family members are teachers as well so I’ve been hearing the same thing- I CAN’T WAIT FOR SPRING BREAK!!! Our spring break is next week so WOOHOO for them and YOU!!
Thanks Kristin!
🙂
I love the pattern on that dress!! Good luck at Cherry Blossom this weekend. Sunday is supposed to be PERFECT weather wise. Hope to see you at the expo!
So glad we got to meet yesterday! Hope to see you at a future race!
I love loft too! Have you signed up for the “Loft Loves teachers”? They give discounts for that too!
I’m so glad the weather is getting better! We all deserve it! Enjoy your weekend and have a great time at your race!
I signed up for it the moment I got I faculty badge as a student teacher, lol.
Wearing sundresses with sandals or wedges is the best. I also love being able to run outside with my dogs and not freeze or have a heat stroke. The best time of the years spring!
I second that, spring is definitely the best!
woot woot! i’m so excited that practically everyone i know is running cherry blossom this weekend! 🙂
Hope to see you tomorrow morning!
Congratulations on the first giveaway! And I love the new clothes from Loft!!!
Thanks Lindsay!
Good luck in the race this weekend!! And, congrats on your first giveaway!!
Thanks Pam!
Goodluck this weekend! Way to go in sticking with not eating chocolate! Almost there, you got this!
Thanks Lacey!
Spring makes me happy because of the color, the warm air, the birds chirping early in the morning and the fresh smell of beautiful flowers. I JUST LOVE IT!!!! Congrats on the Loft haul.
There are so many wonderful things to enjoy and love about spring!
Have a great race this weekend. You might see Christine around the finish line area….she is volunteering at the awards!
Thanks Pam! I’ll definitely be on the lookout for Christine.
Love the colors of you dress! I am so HAPPY for no tights + sandal weather (especially if you treat yourself to a post run pedicure and can wear those flip flops).
I’m already thinking about when in the next week or so I can head to the nail salon and treat myself to a pedicure.
Oooh love all the LOFT clothes! Good luck tomorrow on the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler! Can’t wait to hear about it. And it was SO nice to meet you and your husband yesterday at the expo!
