Today marks one year since I started running. A year ago I never imagined that running would become such an integral part of my life. A year ago I never imagined that I’d complete seven 5ks, a three miler, four 10ks, and two half marathons in a 365 day period. And now, I can’t imagine my life without running!
There was no better way to mark this milestone than by running my second half marathon yesterday. The past two weeks have been anything but easy, but I’m so glad I took the neurologist’s advice and still ran Rock ‘n’ Roll USA yesterday morning. A full recap will be coming soon, but for now I will share that despite being completely exhausted for more than five miles of the race I PRed by 20 minutes!
I’m very much looking forward to what my second year of running brings. I look forward to kicking off year two of running with the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in three weeks!
QOTD: How do you celebrate and/or recognize milestones?
Congratulations on your runiversary AND on rocking that race yesterday! Can’t wait to read the recap!
Thanks Mindy!
So fantastic!!! I LOVE IT!!! Be happy and oh so proud girl!!! You deserve it!! Great job!! 🙂 🙂
Thanks so much Kristin!
Great job! I did well on the race as well! How about that hill at mile 6 though….lord if I didn’t want to quit right then and there…
I definitely walked the hill at mile 6, and it looked like pretty much everybody else around me had to as well. I’m so thankful that the race was mostly flat and downhill afterwards!
I ran it…but barely….it was painful! Everyone was talking about it after!
Congrats! I celebrate by just having fun where I can LOL. You rock!
Thanks Julie!
Who would have ever thought that you and I would be running? I bet in our high school group none of our friends would have thought you and I would become runners. I cannot believe it myself sometimes! I have a similar post planned for this week too as it was my 1 year racing anniversary yesterday. Congrats! Keep it up and someday we’ll run in the same race 🙂
I doubt any of our high school friends would have ever seen us running! Hopefully we’ll race together one day, and in the meantime I can’t wait to cheer you on here in DC at the end of April!
