When life gets busy and stressful, its sometimes the little things that can make a huge difference, bring a smile to your face, and a temporary sense of relief. Its been an extremely stressful several days. Between work and other things that have been going on, there’s been very little time to relax and the stress has resulted in lots of anxiety. I took an extra rest day on Tuesday because of how physically and emotionally exhausted I was by the time I got home from work. But yesterday a few little things brought a bit of relief and helped lift a small load off my shoulders. Since one of my best friends moved to Germany back in December, it hasn’t been as easy to talk to her as it used to be. We used to chat on a nearly daily basis, whether by text, Gchat, or in person, but with the six hour time difference it isn’t as easy to connect anymore. We’ve been texting back and forth for nearly a week and been missing each other, but we finally connected today. Talking to her was exactly what I needed during this incredibly stressful week. And as she said yesterday, not even an ocean can keep us apart!
I had a parent conference after school yesterday. Mentally preparing for these is always stressful because you never know how they’ll go. But the parent I met with was beyond thankful for the information that I shared with her, and thanked me multiple times. She may not have realized it, but her gratitude was just what I needed, because parent conferences do not always go as well as yesterday’s did. And to top off the little things yesterday, I received my runDisney First Half Marathon button in the mail. These buttons made their debut last weekend at the Princess Half Marathon expo. When I found out about them, I posted an inquiry on the Team #runDisney Facebook page asking if anybody would be willing to pick up an extra one for me. Three people quickly offered, and one of them was able to get an extra one for me. It arrived in yesterday’s mail, and I immediately added it to my Disney World Half Marathon medal. Its the perfect addition, isn’t it? Its been the little things that have made a huge difference and have helped me be less anxious about the current stressors in my life.
