Its The Little Things

When life gets busy and stressful, its sometimes the little things that can make a huge difference, bring a smile to your face, and a temporary sense of relief. littlethings Its been an extremely stressful several days.  Between work and other things that have been going on, there’s been very little time to relax and the stress has resulted in lots of anxiety.  I took an extra rest day on Tuesday because of how physically and emotionally exhausted I was by the time I got home from work. But yesterday a few little things brought a bit of relief and helped lift a small load off my shoulders. Since one of my best friends moved to Germany back in December, it hasn’t been as easy to talk to her as it used to be.  We used to chat on a nearly daily basis, whether by text, Gchat, or in person, but with the six hour time difference it isn’t as easy to connect anymore.  We’ve been texting back and forth for nearly a week and been missing each other, but we finally connected today.  Talking to her was exactly what I needed during this incredibly stressful week.  And as she said yesterday, not even an ocean can keep us apart!

I had a parent conference after school yesterday.  Mentally preparing for these is always stressful because you never know how they’ll go.  But the parent I met with was beyond thankful for the information that I shared with her, and thanked me multiple times.  She may not have realized it, but her gratitude was just what I needed, because parent conferences do not always go as well as yesterday’s did. And to top off the little things yesterday, I received my runDisney First Half Marathon button in the mail.  These buttons made their debut last weekend at the Princess Half Marathon expo.  When I found out about them, I posted an inquiry on the Team #runDisney Facebook page asking if anybody would be willing to pick up an extra one for me.  Three people quickly offered, and one of them was able to get an extra one for me.  It arrived in yesterday’s mail, and I immediately added it to my Disney World Half Marathon medal.  Its the perfect addition, isn’t it? halfbutton Its been the little things that have made a huge difference and have helped me be less anxious about the current stressors in my life.

  1. You’ve got the right perspective! It’s the little things that make up life; the stressors are atypical (which is probably why they stress us out).

This is a great and inspiring post!! I’m glad the little things in life are bringing you pleasure and helping to relieve some of your stress!! Have a beautiful day!! 😉

  3. I totally understand the best friend thing! Mine moved across the US from me this summer. The time difference is only 2 hours but that still makes it hard to talk. I miss her so much! Hope you have a great day Kathryn!

  4. Totally agree! It really is the seemingly insignificant things that can make such a huge difference. I LOVE the idea of the button on your medal! I saw the buttons at the Princess expo but they only had “Happy Birthday” ones left, and since my birthday is in August and my BF’s is in September, we’re totally wearing these during Dumbo weekend… 😉

I definitely agree that it’s the little things that often make a day bearable 🙂 Right now for me, it’s snuggling with the kitties and all the nice things my husband does for me as well as catch up conversations with friends. One of mine moved to Ireland and one to Los Angeles and we started doing a group skype once a month, which has been great.

  6. Oh, so glad your parent conference went well! Those are always so nerve-wracking because you don’t know if the parent will be supportive or aggressive. It’s a tough life us teachers have!

I have that medal! I got it last week at the expo and wore it nonstop! It’s now proudly pinned to my medal 🙂

Feeling the same way at the moment! Text messages have helped me through the day the past couple weeks.
