February 2014 Monthly Goals

Now that I’m a year into my running journey (March 16th will mark exactly one year since I started running), I’ve decided to start focusing on monthly goals each month as extra motivation to keep me on track with my training.

This month, I have three goals:

feb2014goals1.  Run, walk, and elliptical a total of at least 60 miles.

In January I completed a total of 51.19 miles, which included the Disney World 10k and Disney World Half Marathon.  Despite February being the shortest month of the year, I’d like to up my mileage and complete at least 60 miles this month.  Part of what will hold me accountable is the new Team #runDisney challenge that I’m taking part in.

2.  Weight train at least twice a week.

I was much more focused on weight training in the early months of my Disney World Half Marathon training.  As my mileage increased, I focused more on my running and walking and put much less time and effort into weights.  Although lifting weights three times per week would be ideal, I’d like to gradually build my focus back up to that while also following my training plan for next month’s Rock ‘n’ Roll USA Half Marathon.

3.  Stay motivated with my training.

With all of the cold and snow that we’ve already experienced this winter, I’m finding it very difficult to stay motivated to get off the couch when I get home from work and head to the gym, which has resulted in many days of no training at all.  This month, I want to focus on not letting the winter weather get the best of me and steer me away from working out.

QOTD: What are your goals for this month?
