There’s No Place Like Home

Visiting with Walt and Mickey at Disney’s California Adventure

We’re safely home from California!  Our 13 days in Southern California were absolutely wonderful, and I’m amazed by everything we were able to see and do during our time there.  We spent three full days at Disneyland (my first time there), two full days on beautiful Catalina Island, and even got two training runs in, including the Balboa Park Three Miler in San Diego this past Saturday.  There’s so much to share from our trip, including the small amount of training that I did fit in as well as my first attempt at Hot Yoga.

Unfortunately, our trip didn’t end on the right note.  Our flight was an hour late leaving San Diego yesterday morning, which caused us to miss our connection at LAX by a whole three minutes.  As we ran up to the gate for our original flight back to DC, we saw the plane pulling away.  What should have been only a nine hour travel day turned into a 20 hour one.  By the time we finally walked into our apartment at 1:30 this morning, we were exhausted and sad our late arrival resulted in delaying picking up our dog Riley until this morning.

Despite yesterday’s travel debacle, Preston and I had an amazing time celebrating our two year wedding anniversary.  I’ll share details from our trip when I’m less tired, including a full race recap from Balboa Park.  For now, Preston and I are both celebrating the fact that there’s no place like home!
