Happy National Running Day! Today marks the fifth annual National Running Day, a celebration of the nation’s runners and their journeys in running. While each runner runs for a different purpose and sets out to accomplish different goals, today’s celebration is meant to bring all runners together to celebrate the sport of running.
So what accomplishment am I celebrating today? Yesterday I officially started my longer distance running (my runs up to this point have been a distance of 5K or less). With five weeks to go until I run the Biggest Loser 10K, its about time that I start focusing on increasing my distance. My goal for yesterday’s run was 4 miles, which I more than accomplished since Preston and I ran a total of 4.65 miles on the W&OD Trail. (More to come on yesterday’s run in a future blog post.)
Be sure to take a moment today to celebrate your personal reasons for running and your individual progress in meeting your own running goals!
